Reading the Bible is not just a momentary inspiration but a journey that shapes our lives. Many of us open the Scripture to random passages, looking for answers or comfort. However, the true power of the Word is revealed when we read it regularly and systematically.
Why is it important to read the Bible in its entirety?
There are those who have been blessed by the consistent reading of Scripture for years. Their lives, spiritual maturity, and close relationship with God bear witness to this. But there are also those who—although they believe—neglect systematic study of the Word. As a result, their spiritual growth is slow, and their faith life lacks power.
When we read the Bible fragmentarily, we might lose sight of its deeper meaning and God’s plan for us. But when we approach it consistently, step by step, we uncover the fullness of God’s message.
💬 “He who does not read the Holy Scriptures does not know Christ.” – St. Jerome
How to start reading the Bible systematically?
- Read the whole Bible, not just selected passages.
Start with the Old Testament and mark where you left off. Next time, begin with the New Testament, again marking your progress. This way, you will alternate between both parts of Scripture. - Don’t rush – consistency is key.
Even if you only read one chapter a day, over time you will read the entire Bible. It’s a journey that has no end—when you reach the last page, simply begin again. - Be faithful and consistent.
Even if you don’t see immediate results, trust the process. God’s Word has the power to transform our hearts and minds, as long as we allow it to work.
The Word that changes lives
